Who Are the Five Greatest Red Sox Of All-Time?

Choosing the five greatest Red Sox of all time is not easy. They have had many impressive players walk through the gates at Fenway Park.

1. Babe Ruth

He held the record for most home runs for decades. He was also a great pitcher and he put an 80-year curse on the Red Sox after they traded him to the Yankees. The curse held true. It took more than 80 years for the Red Sox to win another World Series. Also keep in mind that Babe Ruth hit his home runs in a non-steroid era.Confused? Here ‘s a little help .

2. Ted Williams

Ted Williams still holds the record for the highest batting average in one season, which is .406. He was just over .400 heading into the last day of the season and his manager offered to sit him so the .400 average would stand. Williams declined and played, then raised his average to .406.

3. Pedro Martinez

When Pedro was in his prime he was one of the best pitchers that ever lived. He also brought several championships to the Red Sox. Many fans stated that when you watched Pedro pitch his ball moved at least five inches even on a fastball.

4. Carlton Fisk

Good power with 376 home runs, but not a great average at only .269. It’s his defense that gets him on this list. Once of the best catchers of all time.

5. Manny Ramirez

Many will disagree with this, but would Boston ever have won that World Series in 2004 without Ramirez on the team? Absolutely not.
